Research without application is theory. Problems without research are guesswork.

Two bottlenecks, facing each other. India has hundreds of institutions with world-class research capacity and no access to live enterprise data. It has enterprises deploying AI at speed with no scientific validation. IIDA exists in between.

The two bottlenecks

Academic side

Capacity without access

IITs, IIMs, NITs and the wider institutional base hold genuine research capacity. What they lack is live, high-volume enterprise data and real, high-stakes problem statements to point it at.

Industry side

Urgency without validation

Enterprises are generating datasets and urgent use cases at speed. What they lack is deep scientific validation, peer-reviewed legitimacy, and access to frontier AI talent.

The exchange

MoU

What each side actually gets.

Universities gain
  • Access to real-world datasets and live enterprise problem sets
  • Direct industry interfaces for students and faculty
  • Clear pathways for technology transfer and commercialisation
  • Validation of deep-science models in live environments
IIDA gains
  • Faculty and student talent for joint projects
  • Co-authorship and publication legitimacy
  • Secure academic testbeds for early-stage deployments
  • A platform for a bi-annual call for papers

Six months, three phases

Months 1–2

Engagement and alignment

Establish contact, identify stakeholders, sign an NDA and exploratory MoU, and map institutional research capability against our priority fields.

Months 2–4

Scoping and activation

Define scope — specific projects, faculty involvement, student engagement. Launch the inaugural call for papers. Start two to three pilots or case studies.

Months 4–6

Formalisation and scaling

Formalise a master collaboration agreement, begin joint commercialisation and technology transfer, and build a standing pipeline of co-authored work.
